Daily Tip 12/11/2005 - Pictures Can Be Deceiving

Heres a good idea, in your picture, show your item, along with other things that aren't in the auction, but make sure to note somewhere in small print that the auction is only for a certain item. For instance, going back to an Xbox 360 example, show an Xbox 360 with some games and accessories around it, but then mention at the bottom that it's for the Xbox 360 only. People will miss the statement, or just not read most of your description anyway, and pay a lot of money because they think that they are getting more than just the Xbox 360.

Daily Tip 12/10/2005 - Free Boxes Saves Money

Got an item you have to send out to someone but don't have any boxes? Well USPS has you covered. Go to www.usps.com and go to their online store. Search "priority mail" and your results will contain many types and sizes of boxes that are all free! No money at all, no shipping price. You have to order them kind of in bulk though, minimum of 25 per order, but no problem! These boxes normally can only be used for sending priority mail, but cut one side of the box, flip it around and re-tape it shut, and you have yourself a plain old brown box good for sending through any service such as UPS! Surely you can't beat free boxes, and no account is needed. It says they take about 10-12 days to arrive, but in reality it's about 4-5 days, so it doesn't take long either. And if your not in need of boxes for eBaying, perhaps your moving soon and need some boxes... Yes, imagine the possibilities...

Daily Tip 12/09/05 - More Popular and In Demand The Item Is, The More Money You Will Make

This rule is simple. If you want to make more money, then sell a very popular item that is in high demand. If an item is in high demand, then people will fight over the item more, resulting in a higher end price. Many of these items fall in an electronics category, although so can things like children toys. Remember Furby and Tickle Me Elmo? Great examples. Recently Microsoft released it's next generation video game system, the Xbox 360. The 360 was stricken with a shortage, and it was very hard to get a hold of. Not before long, people on eBay were looking for it, and willing to pay top dollar for it. The system's MSRP price is $399, and when it launched in late November, sold for up to $1200 without any extra accessories. Thats $800 in profit in a single sale. After a couple weeks, the system is still in high demand, though not as much before, but you can still sell a $400 system for about $700-$800, and $400 profit isn't bad at all. If you can get a hold of one of these soon, by all means sell it. I expect that you should still be able to make a profit off these systems for the next couple months.

Daily Tip 12/08/05 - Paypal Is A Must!

I cannot stress this more. Get paypal. What is paypal? Paypal is an online money transfering service that is free, and closely tied to eBay. I had eBay for years before Paypal, and finally got it, and realized how much easier my life now is. Paypal can tie right to a credit card, a savings account, or a checking account. If you use a credit card or a checking account, you can send money to anyone instantly and it comes out of your account. This is perfect for buying stuff on eBay, because it then gets the money to your seller fast, so you receieve your item even faster. If you have a savings account, it's not instant, so you must first tell Paypal to transfer money from your savings account to your Paypal account, then you can use money from your Paypal account balance to pay for stuff. You can receive money instantly with any of the three options. If you sell something and you have the option for the buyer to pay with Paypal, they can pay for it right away so you have your money within minutes of your auctions end. If you have a credit card or checking account, the money will go right into it and you have the money. If you have a savings account, the money the buyer sent you will go into your Paypal account balance, which then free of charge, you can transfer to your savings account which may take 2-3 days. Nearly everyone accepts Paypal on eBay and you should too. Why waste an extra week waiting to send or receive a money order? You can find paypal at www.paypal.com.
